土に返る
放置された子豚の屍体がやがて腐敗分解されて土に返っていく様を記録したページ。気持ち悪いと思われる方は遠慮されたし。少し前にWeekly Teinou 蜂 Womanで知った。アクシデンタルな死を遂げた子豚を使っている。多くの研究と同じように、人間とよく似た経過を辿るモデルとして豚が選ばれている。これを見ていて先生は、宮崎学氏の子供向け写真集を思い出した。
宮崎さんはアスファルトの上で死んだキツネを土の上に移し、土に返っていくまでを記録している。ハエが卵を産みつけ、体内でウジが増えて体が膨れる。体が破裂して大量のウジが現れる。そこへハクビシンがやってきてウジを食べる。ハエの大量発生は自然の摂理でコントロールされているのだ。鳥やイノシシが肉を食べにくる。最終的にはバクテリアによって分解され、土と同化していく。やがてそこには、それを養分とする草木が誕生するだろう。
先生もできることなら土に返ってきれいな花を咲かせたいなあ、そんな空想にしばしふけってしまった週末。
